The General Command of the Armed Forces announced the successful rescue of soldiers who had been abducted during the terrorist attack that targeted the Tumm border crossing and other sites at dawn on January 31, 2026. According to the statement, the soldiers were freed following a precise and specialized operation carried out by designated units along the southern border.

The General Command affirmed that the operation reflects the military’s firm principle that no soldier will be left behind, stressing that the lives and dignity of its personnel remain a responsibility upheld by the leadership and their fellow servicemen.

The statement also reassured the families of the rescued soldiers, confirming their safe return to their units “with pride and honor” after what it described as a new example of loyalty, discipline, and courage demonstrated by their comrades.

The Armed Forces emphasized that they will not tolerate any acts targeting their personnel, pledging to pursue and hold accountable all those involved in the kidnapping and the attack, regardless of their position or affiliation. It further warned that its forces will continue to strike against anyone seeking to undermine national security or threaten the safety and dignity of its members.

The General Command concluded by reaffirming its commitment to protecting the country, noting that military and security operations will continue to combat terrorism and organized crime, secure border areas, and prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
