Sabha – Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, Deputy Commander of the Libyan Armed Forces, conducted an inspection visit to the Sabha International Airport Development Project, which is being implemented by the National Development Agency under the directives of the General Command.
The project aims to fully modernize Sabha International Airport with advanced engineering and architectural standards, improving air transport services and increasing the airport’s operational capacity. This initiative forms part of broader efforts to enhance infrastructure across the southern region.
During his tour, Saddam Haftar praised the progress achieved and the dedication of the working teams, confirming that the completion rate has reached 98%. He also announced that trial operations will begin later this November, followed by the official opening after the final technical and operational tests are completed.
The airport is expected to serve as a model of modern infrastructure and a key pillar in supporting development and connectivity in southern Libya.
