Candidate for the new unified government, Salama Al-Ghweil, addressed Parliament stating that Libya needs a rational leader who puts the nation above personal interest.
He praised the House of Representatives as the true resistance and a cornerstone of national legitimacy, emphasizing that without Speaker Aguila Saleh, the country would have collapsed. Al-Ghweil also criticized the previous government, saying it failed to embrace national aspirations.
