In line with the directives of the General Commander of the Libyan Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, the General Command of the Army Ground Forces has announced the establishment of the Military Veterans Affairs Authority — a move that reflects the leadership’s commitment to honoring those who dedicated their lives in service to the nation under the military banner.
This newly formed authority represents a comprehensive military vision that places lasting value on human capital, even after active duty ends. The authority launched its first major initiative through a medical insurance program for military retirees, in cooperation with the Social Security and Medical Insurance Funds, aiming to cover chronic illnesses and essential healthcare services.
The registration process begins with submitting an application to the designated committee, followed by electronic imaging and issuance of the insurance card, after which the retiree can begin receiving treatment at accredited medical centers.
This initiative highlights the fact that the Ground Forces Command is not only focused on battlefield leadership but also deeply invested in the social and humanitarian needs of its personnel — proving once again that the military institution remains a steadfast support system for its men throughout all stages of their lives.
