In a meeting with Masad Boulos, Senior Adviser to the U.S. President on Arab, Middle Eastern, and African Affairs, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s firm support for a Libyan-led political solution and stressed that Egypt has been the country most affected by Libya’s ongoing instability.
The discussion focused on the situation in Libya and ways to restore stability across the country. President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s commitment to supporting all proposed political settlement steps, particularly the formation of a unified Libyan government that enjoys credibility among the Libyan people and receives political backing from the House of Representatives, the High Council of State, and the Presidential Council.
He added that the primary mission of such a government should be to hold simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections.
