As a continuation of prior talks between the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces and UN Special Representative Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, Vice Commander-in-Chief General Saddam Haftar held a meeting with the UN envoy and her delegation at the General Command headquarters.

The discussions focused on practical steps to implement the UN-proposed political roadmap presented at the Security Council, overcoming obstacles, and supporting the peaceful political process toward holding presidential and parliamentary elections.

General Haftar also highlighted the efforts made by the General Command to curb illegal migration through cooperation with neighboring countries, as well as arrangements to host and provide medical care for thousands of Sudanese refugees in Kufra. He noted plans to facilitate their return to Sudan via official border crossings in coordination with the UN.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Ms. Tetteh praised the General Command’s role in advancing the political process and its effective handling of the migration issue.
