The Spanish military-focused website “Defensia” revealed that the visit of the Commander of the Libyan Ground Forces, General Saddam Haftar, to Ankara and his meetings with Turkish military leaders come as part of efforts to strengthen partnerships in the defense industries, opening the door to arms deals and training programs.
The site pointed out that the visit marks a significant shift in relations between Turkey and Eastern Libya, establishing a direct, high-level military communication channel. It comes within a more pragmatic Turkish approach aiming to build strategic ties with the forces controlling the East and South of Libya, in support of Ankara’s economic and geopolitical interests.
